Protocol design
Money & treasury
Make scheduled issuance predictable, keep treasury funding explicit, and publish the accounting that connects the native asset and stablecoin.
2% scheduled annual issuance#
The selected rate starts at 2% per year and stays there. Allocations to content, witnesses, staking and the treasury must fit inside that schedule. Their percentages have not been selected.
The issuance base, compounding convention, block rounding and missed-block handling still need specification. Stablecoin conversions, interest and burns must be reported separately. A 2% scheduled rate is not a promise that every possible change in native supply is capped at 2%.
An empty starting treasury#
No inherited legacy treasury endowment. An agreed share of scheduled issuance funds development through a DAO. Treasury balances remain visible as existing supply; a treasury payment transfers assets already held.
Budget share, denomination, voting rules and reporting remain open. The earlier website’s treasury multipliers and spending thresholds are superseded proposals, not current commitments.
Fair access starts at genesis#
No automatic whale airdrop based on inherited Hive holdings. The direction is acquisition through contribution, network work, staking or purchase. The initial supply and initial allocation mechanism are still to be determined.
A sale, an earned genesis and any bootstrap issuance each need explicit rules and scrutiny. Trading existing tokens does not create an initial supply; 2% issuance cannot grow a zero supply. Fair access is a design requirement, not a claim that wealth can never concentrate.
Four-week power-down#
Staked funds should be withdrawable over four weeks. This reduces the commitment required to participate and makes exit more practical. Installments, rounding, governance rights during withdrawal and mana adjustment remain implementation details to settle.
This replaces the 104-week proposal previously published on this website.
Stablecoin parameters#
- Native-to-stable conversion premium
- 1% initially
- Debt target
- 10% of the backing native asset’s market capitalization
The conversion premium is a parameter of collateralized conversion, not a fee on every transfer. Collateral requirements, oracle protection, settlement timing and fee arithmetic remain to be specified.
The debt target needs a precise denominator, treatment of treasury liabilities, mint-throttling thresholds and a response to falling collateral value. It is not enough to change one constant. The stablecoin’s launch conditions and interest policy are still open.
Publish the whole balance sheet#
Show scheduled issuance, native tokens minted by conversions, stablecoin issuance and interest, burns, treasury balances, and net supply change separately. Also distinguish total supply, circulating supply, the issuance base and the asset base used for the debt ratio.
